Case studies
We don't just build websites, we build the right type of website to match the aims and requirements of our clients. Every website will have a different target market, different types of services or information available and a range of people who will manage the website.
We find out exactly who will be using the website, what our clients want to offer and what their visitors will expect to find, then we build a site to meet these expectations. The site might feature e-commerce, e-learning, user-contributions, multiple CMS editors or resource management - whatever is required, we make sure that the type of site we build is fit for the purpose.
Case studies:
Multiple editors
Websites are best when they're updated regularly. Not having a Content Management System (CMS) can be a barrier to this, as it requires technical knowledge or software to update a site. If the task of updating a website is restricted to one person and it becomes too much for them to manage, it can quickly become out-of-date. A CMS with multiple users allows this task to be shared by a team of people, while a small number retain editorial control of what appears on the live site.
SVM Consulting Engineers
SVM had an existing website which they updated using Dreamweaver™. The design was dated and inconsistent, navigation was unclear and updates were made infrequently because the method of maintenance created a bottleneck for changes. We modernised the design and layout, put in clear navigation and created a Content Management System with different user permission levels. Now Editors can add or edit content while Publishers review then make the changes live. This system allows SVM to showcase their most recent projects and make greater use of their site.

User contribution
You may not have heard them called "user contribution sites" but you have probably visited one. Many sites allow visitors to add their vote or comments, whether it's a restaurant review, a comment on a blog or posting a reply on a discussion form. Visitors who contribute to a website will spend longer on the site and peer-feedback can be very influential.
Hall Of Phobias
Canadian author Patricia Pearson wanted a website for her new book, A Brief History Of Anxiety, that would stand out from the usual promotional sites. Using our expertise with user contribution sites we created The Hall of Phobias. As well as promoting the book, it's a resource for the millions of people around the world coping with phobias, where they can add their own anxieties and read those contributed by other visitors.

E-learning
E-learning is an umbrella term for instructive web pages which usually involve some form of interaction to help a visitor remember the information. E-learning often features in training or academic websites which allow students to take part in courses and ask tutors for guidance. It's a good way to make informational pages varied and engaging for visitors.
Eatsome
Eatsome works with people of all ages throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to promote healthy eating. They had outgrown their existing website and wanted a new exciting site which allowed them to manage their own content and put their extensive print materials online. We added a fun healthy eating quiz to give visitors an interactive experience. They commented "Iteracy totally understood what we were after and delivered on time and on budget. They talked us through the process and were very responsive to our needs."

E-commerce
Online shopping is convenient and often cheaper than high-street shopping, however there are costs involved in selling. Marketing, advertising and updating stock is time-consuming and can be expensive, so it's important to choose an e-commerce solution which is easy to use and has charges appropriate to the volume of sales expected. There are a huge number of shopping baskets and payment gateways available, ranging from free open-source projects to costly e-commerce systems.
Yumbli
Before they came to us, Yumbli were wasting precious time by maintaining their online shop manually. We designed and built a new site featuring a full e-commerce system and hosted the site to improve the reliability and availability. We also used our extensive search engine optimisation experience to increase their visibility. Their Marketing Manager commented "Great job! The new CMS makes adding new products easy and allows me to focus on my work without worrying about the website."
