We were over the moon to hear that the Lostwithiel Town Team recently won awards for their work on the Lostwithiel Town Trail website that Iteracy designed and built. The beautiful website showcases the ancient Stannary town's walking routes. Explore the Heritage Highlights Trail through 20 key landmarks, follow the Young Explorers Nature Trail along the Fowey Valley, discover historic buildings on the Brass Plaque Trail, or enjoy the Pub Trail through the town's vibrant hospitality scene.
Here's the Town Team's report about their awards:
Lostwithiel Town Team are delighted to announce they were presented with two prestigious awards at Cornwall Council’s Heritage Awards this week. During a ceremony at The National Maritime Museum, the team were recognised as ‘Heritage Heroes’ for the efforts of the volunteer team in creating Lostwithiel’s new town trails. The small team of David Guiterman, Michelle Nineham, Sarah Preece, John Scott and Phil Wisdom worked with people from Lostwithiel and beyond to create digital and physical trails that celebrate the town’s history, environment, culture and language. Funded by Cornwall Council’s Town Delivery Fund, the team enhanced the trail with benches, bird and bat boxes, listening posts, a town timeline and new map signs for the town.
At the ceremony’s finale, the team were delighted to also be awarded the top award of the evening, ‘Spirit of the Awards’, recognising the team’s ‘outstanding connection to rootedness and connectedness, community impact, collaboration, values-led practice, leadership and inspiration’. Judged by the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site Team, the project was also acknowledged for its accessibility and long-term sustainable design. The team are very grateful to all those who supported the project, particularly Julie Tamblin, Christine Walton, Iteracy Web Design and Leon Toumi and Marisa Moore of Bodmin Creative Studio.
